Your choice in dining on Cuban cuisine is wide and varied when you are cruising Key West
Dining on Cuban dishes could only better in Havana than Key West. That’s saying maybe? This southernmost city in the states serves up it’s neighboring island’s dishes in a traditional fashion that can only be described as incredible to the taste and additionally filling.
You will never walk out of a Cuban restaurant here without a satisfied feeling. All at a bargain. After finishing a meal it almost makes you want to light up a cigar. In Key West don’t expect a genuine Cuban restaurant to present you with a plate with stacked layers and a sauce design on your plate.
Family Operations For Decades
Many of these establishments are family operations with some going back decades, and fancy presentation is not their style. In Cuba, diner styled restaurants are common, and newer small establishments operated from homes are becoming increasingly part of the scene. That is not to discount more elegant dining which is certainly available in Cuba and also Key West.
Many will claim pork rules as a Cuban dish. Rightfully so and a pork roast is a traditional Christmas dish on this island. There is no one that can cook better pork. The same holds true with black beans and rice. There are numerous restaurants in Key West specializing in Cuban fare and all are worthy of visiting.
Gaping A Bridge
Distance wise, Cuba is closer to Key West than Miami. It’s a bridge apart which hopefully someday soon will be gaped. Anyone who has been fortunate enough to cruise Cuba waters aboard there own boat will attest to the unlimited potential and beauty as a cruising region.
